New rails and Plaque in the Burial Ground
New rails and Plaque in the Burial Ground.
Railings have been fitted to the steps up into and on the first part of the path into the Burial Ground. This means people can hold onto a firm railing as they go up and down that steep first part of the path. The railings were organised by Raymond Kitson on behalf of the Moravian Church Committee and he has worked closely with the contractor to get them fitted.
In addition a bronze information plaque has been put up to give visitors and locals some history of “God’s Acre” and the Moravian traditions associated with it. Some of the costs of the railings and this plaque were paid for from a grant given by the Northern Healthy Lifestyles Partnership which was organised by Mrs Roberta Gray. The grant aims to enhance local areas and encourages people to get out and about.
